Picture the scene. It is afternoon. The lights are on. The Starbucks sign is on. The menu screens are on. Bakery case and Display Fridge is lit up with products. Barista at the till wearing green apron with the customer-facing POS sign says Next Customer. The A-board is outside... no queue of customers as its a quell period of the day.

For some reason despite the above, some customers approach thinking a lack of customers in a queue means the coffee shop is shut. Some days, upwards of 12 people will ask that simple question. The urge to say "No, Sorry" is in the back of the mind after the seventh interaction, although desperate for human interaction and to make someone a drink the answer is always "yes".

What is more annoying, the reverse. Visibly closing but customers that still presume (or try their luck) the coffee shop is open.
