Almost overnight the popularity of social media memes and shared content, means far more people are using the same fake names (rather than a short random fake name). Which is weird, because the same people have almost the same style and physical appearance.

It is somewhat fatiguing as a barista during a long shift when you end up confused whether it is a long line of people throughout the day using the same name or whether the same person (or same few people) keep coming back. Because... if someone is that regular it is rude to not acknowledge them as a returning customer.

I don't have an issue with customers using fake names - it makes the transaction less awkward than those who refuse or complain to be asked. My employer is likely presuming I'm just randomly putting the same few names into the till each time.
