The most common male and female name given to me at the till by a country mile is James and Sarah respectfully. Is this a potential sign of compatibility amongst Starbucks lovers I wonder? Or is it the first name they can think of when avoiding their real name?


The most common fake names given to me at the till are John, Jim, Joe, Tom and Bob for men and Emma, Jo, Alice, Emily and Liz.


Most of those names probably won't come of much of a surprise. I don't have a problem with people not giving their real names... and it is far better than those that either pretend to not hear the request or go full freak out as they don't want to give it.


When researching historic baby names, neither James or Sarah appear in the top 5 for the respective gender in any year of the last 50 years.


Could all the James' and Sarahs out there that frequent Starbucks coffee shops - or at least the one I work at - be tempting fate of forever love by going there... or is it actually the opposite? Who knows.
