I am good at determining who is ordering and who is window shopping, so although I am always ready and alert, I don't go out of my way to communicate with people I am pretty confident is just going to rudely walk off without responding having given eye contact and acknowledged an attempt to speak with them. Some people will have a brief exchange back.

Eye contact is the start of the transaction as far as I am concerned although customer experience occurs as they reach the coffee shop unit.

Unfortunately I am not immune on people, like one guy who was a spitting image of the weird guy on the Malteasers adverts, who approached seemingly interested, eye contact and opened his mouth to say "Can I.." before terminating his communication with the smuggest grin you've ever seen and walking off.

Why?? It wasn't the spook of the prices. Just a time waster...
