You don't actually get a choice. A lot of this depends on how it has been kept (temperature, moisture, pests, hygiene, airtight containers if kept overnight) but some products generally fare better than others.

Not only does this apply for TooGoodToGo bags, but I'd avoid all bakery items within the "best avoided" group for purchase in late afternoon and evenings, and only consider them in the mornings or midday. The items in the "generally okay" list - especially the freshly baked pastries each morning - are best in the morning but fine around midday if any are left.

Some Starbucks locations will bake more pastries and replenish sweet bakery items which come pre-packaged. If the item runs out its a certainty. If only half or so are sold, the items might be topped up... you'd hope with FIFO (First In First Out) that the older goods are sold first so Too Good To Go would be newer, but FIFO isn't always religiously followed, and some products like pastries generally get spoilt quicker when next to older items.

Bakery items that are generally okay

Almond Croissant
Butter Croissant
Pain au Chocolat
Chocolate Brownie
Lemon Loaf Cake

Bakery items that are typically best avoided

Luxury Toast
Cinnamon Bun
Pistachio Scroll
Banana Nut Loaf
Blueberry Muffin
Chocolate Muffin
Chocolate Swirl Loaf
Victoria Sponge
Any Other Loaf Cake

Top Tip: Pastries and Muffins are End of the Day, other items have been on display for a day or more.
