At Starbucks we have to ask everyone for their name as part of the order process. It might seem disappointing to learn but unless you are a regular chances are we have forgotten your name 10 seconds later, so for people to spend 30 seconds or longer venting about why they have to give a name when there isn't a massive queue in front rather than state their first name, make one up or simply decline, is a tedious process.

It is a famous part of what Starbucks is about - globally - if it is really such a problem for you (where you can't politely decline or give a name true or false)... then Starbucks probably isn't for you... other coffee shops exist.
